Task 5: Evaluate the response (D1)

Report on feedback Having explained in Task 4 some of the feedback I was given, I will now cover the feedback that was useful as well as the feedback that suggested improvement. I will then take that into consideration and decide how I will improve. I will go through each of the feedback in the same order as task 4. As mentioned in task 4, there were many strengths. These included the mock ups, the font used in the mock ups and the magazines name. I believe that these were viewed as strengths because I showed a clear idea of them through the drafts, therefore the client could visually analyse it. 1: Fonts I found the clients questioning on this very important because I need to show a clear font idea in the final product, meaning that I can not take too long deciding between two logos for the masthead. It was clear in my presentation that i was still undecided on which one to use despite showcasing only one of them in my drafts. I will develop product by choosing the one font tha...

Task 4: Pitch your ideas (P4, M3)

Video  Presentation From watching the video of myself pitching the final presentation for my magazine to the client I have been able to understand the feedback that I was given and I have been able to decide how I will change aspects of the planning for the magazine for when I create it. The positive feedback that I received included the opinion on my font as well as the opinion on my mock up drafts for both the front cover and the double page spread. The client definitely liked the look of them which shows that I put a lot of effort into the designs. There were many parts of my presentation that are questionable, and these were pointed out by the client. 1. One of the first questions mentioned my logos (Font ideas for the masthead), and I was asked what my thoughts were when choosing one over the other. This was because I presented my two different ideas for fonts to show that I used broad knowledge to create designs. 2. After this, I have understood that the cli...

Task 3 Planning and preparing a pitch (P3, M2)

Firstly, I had to create a presentation based on the pitch, I then had to present it to my peers as a practice run. Below is the embedded code to the actual presentation. On the left, is the video footage of me presenting it. I have then analysed my performance and explained the feedback given to me by my peers. Analysis: I believe that my practice presentation was communicated well and my aspirations for North City Grime were explained effectively. This is because I aimed to cover as much as I possibly could so that all aspects of magazine production will be planned correctly. For example,I included a slide on legal and ethical issues because these are very important factors of magazine production in the modern world. However, I was provided with feedback that included the positives as well as the negatives and how I can improve on them. These were the areas of the presentation that can be improved: 1. The magazine is aimed at a large target audience of people age 15-24. While...

Task 2: Sample material for proposal (P2)

Image
Firstly, I created some hand drawn templates suggesting where I could potentially put everything within the front cover and double page spread, this did then change slightly for my actual hand drawn designs and could potentially be different during production for the best possible outcome. Below the drawings are the rest of the sample material in relation to the proposal.

Task 2: Create a proposal and pitch for a media product (P2)

Initial plans My plans for this magazine is the idea of creating the first issue for a new magazine idea, based within the northern district of London and on the music genre grime. Grime is a sub-genre of rap, and originally gained its popularity in the UK, as our own version of hip/hop which is a largely known and loved genre of music that originated from cities in the USA such as New York and Los Angeles. Specifically from London, Grime is associated with artists that came from working class backgrounds and has been highly popular within the UK in recent years. Because of this growing popularity, I have decided that using grime as a genre could be potentially successful when creating a magazine that informs residents of North London, more about the grime scene going on in this half of the city.  The aim is to produce a monthly magazine around North London called “NorthCityGrime”. This name grips buyers attention, because they instantly know that “NorthCity” is a referenc...
