Task 3 Planning and preparing a pitch (P3, M2)
Firstly, I had to create a presentation based on the pitch, I then had to present it to my peers as a practice run. Below is the embedded code to the actual presentation. On the left, is the video footage of me presenting it. I have then analysed my performance and explained the feedback given to me by my peers.
Analysis:
I believe that my practice presentation was communicated well and my aspirations for North City Grime were explained effectively. This is because I aimed to cover as much as I possibly could so that all aspects of magazine production will be planned correctly. For example,I included a slide on legal and ethical issues because these are very important factors of magazine production in the modern world.
However, I was provided with feedback that included the positives as well as the negatives and how I can improve on them. These were the areas of the presentation that can be improved:
1. The magazine is aimed at a large target audience of people age 15-24. While this is okay, I was implying that this includes those who are unemployed (Based on social grade). I must ensure that in the real presentation, I explain who else it includes because many young adults are employed despite the fact that many are in education or university. What this means is that I need to prove how the magazine will also be aimed at people in categories above E.
2. While presenting, I was standing in a position that meant that I was blocking part of the screen. This is very unprofessional because it looks like there was a lack in knowledge of presentation skills, even though the reality is that I misinterpreted the place that I was standing and how near to the screen it was. To improve I will ensure that the whole screen is visible while I am still in view of the camera. This will allow those viewing it to see the entire screen and can learn my pitch more effectively.
3. Lastly, I was also swaying quite a bit. This does not look professional enough as it shows that I am nervous and struggling to present. To improve I need to explain everything from the powerpoint slowly and carefully, and ensure that my brain is engaged with my body language.
Potential client questions:
I have been able to identify potential questions that I may receive from the client after the actual presentation is performed. For example, they could question how I will be able to fill my magazine with enough articles for every issue, as well as possibly asking how I will actually reach the target audience.
1. How do you plan to fill the magazine with enough content/articles etc?
2. In what way will you market effectively to actually be able to reach the target audience?
3. Will your magazine have a website?
4. How do you plan to get in touch with an artist?
5. Will you be sticking to a red/white colour scheme for every issue?
6. Will your magazine remain based on North London only?
